AFRICAN BURIAL GROUND ESSAY

At the African burial ground i learned plenty of things. But the first thing i learned was when ms.Tameka introduced herself and then played a clip,I learned that the slaves came from west africa such as nigeria and ghana.I also learned that the slaves were on the boat shoulder to shoulder for three months.

The second thing i learned was when the tour guide told us that the slaves had their funerals in a swamp, which we now call manhattan. Also that the funerals took place at dusk because the masters of the slaves wouldnt take a chance for slaves to escape at night. The masters thought the slaves would try to run away.

Another thing i learned was that tameka said that a group of constuction workers started digging up human bones. They didnt want any one to know so they built a tall wall so no oone can see the bones coming out of the dirt.It was thier dirty little secret until a scientist came to see how things were going and when he saw the bones he reported it to fox news.No one was happy because they thought that was creul becausethey didnt tell them that they were finding bones.

The last thing i learned was when ms.tameka told us that each coffin held about sixty people. She also showed us the grave.Another thing i learned was that a swirl means that even if the world ends life wont stop. That really touched me.
